Wordplay...

For a lover of words, the name Giuffrè was itself a gift, especially when coupled with the deceptively similar Giulia. One tried repeatedly to convey the pronunciation and spelling. There was even a ritualised family mnemonic:
G for George
I for Ivy
U for Under
Double F for Fred
R for Roger [or Richard]
E for Edward

Over the years Giulia had collected many versions of her name. [Orlando and Sophia: Mum, get a life!] These included, for Giulia - Giuklia, Civlia, Cimlia, and for Giuffrè - Guffrey, Gieffrè, Giuffey, Giussre, Ginffre, Gluffre, Goofier [suggested by the computer], Giraffe, Guireff.
